Joseph “Bud” L. Lauf, 86, of Wenona, passed away at 10:40 AM Tuesday (December 29, 2015) at his residence.
He was born on February 3, 1929 in Wenona to Leo & Rose Marie (Klein) Lauf. He was raised by his Aunt, Mayne Lauf. He married the former Ruth L. Schmillen on November 10, 1951. She survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Rose (Bill) Nicholson and sons: John (Marianne) Lauf, Bill Lauf and Tiger (Leanne) Lauf all of Wenona; 4 grandchildren: Joey Lauf and Leslie Petersen and Audie and Chance Lauf; 2 great grandchildren: Lucia and Lane Petersen; a sister, Shirley Lauf Johnson of Kankakee; 2 nieces Julie & Bobbi Jo and a cousin, Evy Mannott.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John W. Lauf.
Bud took over operation of Lauf Insurance Agency from 1947 to 2009, it was the oldest family owned business in Wenona (over 100 years).
He was also a rural mail carrier for 44 years in Wenona.
He was a charter member of the Wenona Rotary, served on the Marshall County Board, was the Marshall County Democratic Precinct Committeeman and was supervisor of Evans Township.
