Joseph Roland Bertrand of White Plains, New York passed away suddenly on December 23, 2015, at the age of 51.
Joseph (Joe) will be incredibly missed by his wife Michelle of 21 years; sons Brandon Joseph, Justin Joseph, and Ryan Joseph; parents Austin and Bernal; sisters Charmaine and Portia (Gillian) her husband Eric and loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and close friends.
Joe was born in Trinidad and Tobago and migrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1977. He graduated from Bishop Loughlin High School in 1982 and earned a double degree in Math and Computer Science at SUNY Old Westbury. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Science, then a Masters degree of Science- Nurse Practitioner at Pace University. Joe worked as a Registered Nurse at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan and truly loved his job.
Joe was a dedicated husband, father, uncle, son, brother, and friend who really enjoyed spending time with the ones he loved. Investing his time in uplifting others was one of his passions. In 2013, Joe was part of a mission team that went to Guyana to teach safe medical practices to Guyanese healthcare professionals and rendered care in rural areas. Joe was also very entrepreneurial and was one of the owners of the recently opened BK9 Restaurant and Bar in Brooklyn.
