Joseph Alfred “Sonny” Montana, 98, a former New Jersey native, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Born April 11, 1926, he was the son of the late Angelo and Theresa Montana, and was also preceded in death by his sister, Lucretia Grace “Rhea” Milano (John Anthony).

Joseph bravely served his country with the United States Army during World War II, fighting the Axis powers throughout Europe for three harrowing years until Germany’s surrender. His unwavering courage and commitment continued as he stayed enlisted in the Army Reserve for several years following the war.

After his military service, Joseph embarked on a remarkable career with Kellogg’s Inc., where he worked as an industrial engineer for over 50 years before retiring.

Joseph was also a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in New Jersey, where he shared camaraderie and solidarity with fellow veterans. A lifelong Catholic, Joseph’s faith was a cornerstone of his life.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Donna Marie Shelley, John Joseph Milano (Ellen), Michael Alan Milano (Cynthia), Dianne Virginia Milano; and other extended family members.
