Joseph A. Steele, 91. passed away September 4, 2013. He was born November 2, 1921 in Sparta, TN to the late Mathew and Susan Watson Steele. Joe married Weltha J. Steele on September 1, 1945 in Indianapolis and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2008. He was owner 41 years of Joe Steele Auto Sales retiring in 1987. He was a pioneer in the used car market starting one of the first buy- here pay- here car lots. He was also a member of numerous local business associations. Joe was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing all over the U.S. and Canada. He and his wife were avid supporters of Pottor Orphan Home in Bowling Green, KY often bringing children up to spend the summer with them. His survivors are sons Jerry (Ronda L.) Steele of Bargersville and Dr. Douglas A. (Theresa) Steele of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Joseph Roland (Angela) Steele of Greenwood and Julie Steele (Mark Copple) of Indianapolis; great grandchildren Carson and Kesslar Steele of Greenwood. He was also preceded in death by sisters Nancy Hutching and Nettie Elmore and brother Virgil Steele.
