Joseph A. Horvath, 85, of Bethlehem Twp., died Sunday, December 7, 2008, in the VNA of St. Luke’s Hospice House in Lower Saucon Twp. He was the husband of Dorothy I. (Halleman) Horvath for 63 years. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Stephen and Caroline (Chuck) Horvath. Before retiring in 1977, he was employed for 30 years by the City of Bethlehem as an inventory control supervisor. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the Army Air Corps during WWII, where he served in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Apennines, Po Valley and Air Combat over the Balkans. He received a European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a silver star. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, 4th degree and the American Legion.. He was an avid baseball and football fan. Survivors: he will be lovingly remembered by his wife Dorothy at home; daughter Catherine A. Ruth of Spring Hill, FL; sons Joseph R. and his wife Judy of Kansas City, KS, William A. and his wife Deborah of Spring Hill, FL, and son Richard S. Sr. and his wife Toni with who he resided; sister Carrie Major of Allentown, brothers Stephen and his wife Angie, Edward and his wife Irene, and Daniel and his wife Irene all of Bethlehem. 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Margaret and Theresa.
