Serrano, Jose R. of Poughkeepsie, formerly of Beacon, entered into rest peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. He was 97. Born in Venezuela, March 19, 1916, he came to the United States as a young man and became a U.S. Citizen. He worked as a Jewelry Maker in New York City, then moved to Ulster County and worked for Manufacturing Companies in Orange County until his retirement. Jose married Felicita Irrizarry-Perez in 1944 and they divorced in 1984, Felicita died in March 2013. Jose leaves two daughters, Lucia Gunchin of San Pedro, CA. and Delia West of Peachtree GA., a stepdaughter Isabel Tortorici, Legal Guardian and a stepson, Michael Asencio-Serrano. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kimberly West, Ryan Gunchin, and great-grandchildren Alexis Gunchin. Step-grandchildren, include Scott Tortorici, Todd Tortorici and his wife Jamie, step-great grandchildren, Denielle Tortorici, Cameron Tortorici, Tyler Tortorici, and a step-great great grandchild, Jeremy Hays.
