Obituary of Jose Maria Vela

Jose “Joe” Maria Vela, Jr. age 73, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, November 7, 2018 at his residence. Jose was born August 28, 1945 in Chesaning, MI the son of Jose and Angelita (Limon) Vela. He proudly served in the United States Marines and Army during the Vietnam War. Jose was a hard worker his whole life. He worked and retired from General Motors after 25 years of service. Jose enjoyed dancing (he even taught a little bit), listening to music, watching Detroit Tigers Baseball, and working on his rental properties. But most of all Jose loved his family. He would do anything for them. Jose was known for speaking his mind, he was brutally honest; whether you liked it or not. He was a very supportive and giving father and grandfather. His favorite saying to his family was “Yo Mando” (I am the Boss). His family was his life; especially his grandchildren. Jose will be dearly missed.
Jose is survived by his 3 loving children; Daniel (Melissa) Vela, Andrea Vela-Rossman and Michael Vela, 6 grandchildren; Daniel and Angelo Vela and Anthony Rocha, Aaliyah, Andrew II and Armando Rossman, 4 sisters and brothers; Eva Quintanilla, Rey Vela, Lupe Molina and Mary Hernandez and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Jose was preceded in death by twin sons; John and Joe Vela and 6 brothers and sisters; Rosie Vela, Robert Vela, Gilbert Vela, Beatrice Bustamante, Ester Garcia and Jessie Vela.
