Jose Enrique Montenegro, age 90 crossed over to his enteral home on June 11, 2021
Jose Enrique was born on September 5, 1930 in Zamora Mexico to Jose and
Antonia Montenegro. At the young age of 22 Jose immigrated to the USA and
settled in Yuma Arizona to pursue the American dream.
In September 1953 Jose married Virginia Elizondo and remained married until her death in 2006,
they were married for 53 years. Together they had 6 children, and 9 grandchildren,
7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Once you met Jose, you were taken by his character, dedication and passion for self-
improvement. Jose’s desire to achieve the American Dream was realized when he became a

USA citizen and started several businesses. Jose had a tremendous work ethic that many would
find unbelievable! He instilled that trait in all his children to make the world a better place. In
doing so, his legacy will live on. Jose was an avid reader, patriot, loved the USA and was a lifelong resident of Yuma,
Arizona for 69 years.

Jose is survived by his children and their spouses, Joseph E & (Jacquelyn) Montenegro of Antelope, California, Charles J.
& (Susan) Montenegro of Gilbert, Arizona, Maria E. & (Lupe) Lopez of Tucson, Arizona, Ana A. Montenegro of Phoenix,
Arizona, A. John Montenegro and Joe H.
& (Barbara) Montenegro both of Yuma, Arizona. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Analicia, Malina, Brett, Diego,
Jewel, Natalie, Richard, Joleen and Heaven, seven great grandchildren; Lyena, Marcus, Nara, Joseph Andru, Alex, John
David, Chloe and one great-great grandchild; Jenayah. Also, Jose’s sister Teresa Montenegro and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff, especially RN Regina, of Yuma YRMC Hospital for the dedication and
compassion they showed during his brief illness.
Additionally, the family would like to thank the staff, especially Blanca, of Yuma Mortuary & Crematory for their
professionalism and empathy while handling our father’s cremation.
Jose wished to be cremated and ashes placed in a few of his favorite places in Arizona.

Children’s Research Hospital on Jose’s behalf. These two organizations held a special place in Jose’s heart.
One to help the brave men and women that serve and protect our great nation and the other to end childhood cancer.
