Jose Antonio Rios, “Tony” 60 of Bayard passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Fort Bayard Medical Center.
“Anthony” or “Tony” as he was affectionately known was born in Silver City to Manuel and Ernestina Rios. Tony had attended and graduated from Cobre High School and also attended New Mexico State University. He had worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and most recently as a cafeteria worker at the Cobre Schools. Tony loved all types of music as shown by his love of dancing. He also loved settling in and watching all types of movies. Tony was also a member of the Roman Catholic Church. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tony is survived by two brothers, Reymundo Rios of Barstow, CA, and Lorenzo Rios (Rosalie) of Arenas Valley, NM; one sister, Lydia “Stella” Holguin (Federico) of Santa Clara, NM. Also surviving Tony is a special cousin and caregiver, Helen Deporto, his uncle, Santiago Rios of Tucson, Az; aunt, Mariana Rios of Bayard; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Ernestina (Salas) Rios.
