Jonathan Papa Johnny Lee Starkey, 60, of 111 Forest Court, Danville, VA, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 while a patient at Sentara Hospital of Norfolk. He was born November 17, 1951 in Martinsville, VA to the late Mauerine Starkey Milam and the late Joseph A. Milam. He was married to his loving wife Frieda Starkey of the residence, who survives. Johnny worked for 34 years with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., starting out his career in the tire room as a tire builder. He later went into management, and ended his career in continuous improvement. Johnny loved his family, especially his granddaughters. He was a member of Laurel Grove Baptist Church. Johnny will be remembered as an outgoing and hard working person, who loved classic cars, especially his Mustang and his Harley. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Allison S. Emerson and husband, Scott of Suffolk, VA and Stephanie A. Anderson and husband, Ryan of Danville; his son, Michael Adkins and significant other Robin Ickes of Sunnyvale, CA; four sisters: Laura M. McCoy and husband Keith, of Ringgold, VA, Carolyn M. Turner of Ringgold, Melisa M. Herndon, of Chatham, VA, and Nancy M. Davis and husband Derek of Ringgold; one brother Joseph E. Milam of Jacksonville, FL; two granddaughters: Mary Kathryn Emerson and Hannah Grace Emerson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
