Jonathan “Johnny” Medford Pennington, age 68, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born November 22, 1953, in Rowan County, he is the son of Flora Bumgardner Pennington of Morehead and the late Medford Pennington. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald David Pennington.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 23 years, Rhonda Claypool Pennington, whom he married July 4, 1998; one son, Michael Pennington of Morehead; one daughter, Jennifer Pennington Darlington and husband Gary of Morehead; three step daughters, Dawnitta Jones and Deanndra Rodriguez, both of Morehead and Rebecca Crawford of Fleming County; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Other survivors include one brother and six sisters, Derinda Jent, Fairlene Evans and husband Jeffrey, Stephan Jay Pennington and wife Valerie, Shawana Harris and husband Frank, Sheena Nickell and companion Marce Fannin, all of Morehead, Janice Anderson and husband Frank of Eagle, Colorado, and Letisha Wallace and husband Jeffrey of Clearfield; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Johnny was retired truck driver.
