Jon Douglas Goodwin, 61, of Main Street North, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family May 15, 2009 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Marita (Pohjola) Goodwin for more than 36 years. Doug was born October 20, 1947 in New Milford, son of the late George and Grace (Galvin) Goodwin Sr. He attended New Milford schools, and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1969. Doug served in the US Army for 3 years, stationed in Europe, where he met his future wife. They then lived in Pennsylvania, Ridgefield and Bridgeport, CT before settling in Southbury over 20 years ago. He had worked in Quality Control his entire career, most recently as Quality Manager for Scan Tool & Mold in Trumbull. He was a member of the American Society for Quality Control. Doug was also actively involved in the Special Olympics and enjoyed woodworking. He was also a history buff who especially enjoyed studying the Civil War & World War II. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Raymond Jon Goodwin of Southbury, 4 brothers George Goodwin and his wife, Lorraine, of Southbury, Jeffrey Goodwin and his wife Jane, of San Pedro, CA, Mark Goodwin and his wife Marcy, of Bethel, Rory Goodwin and his wife Judy, of Southbury, a sister-in-law Raili Klee of Southbury, a niece Ashley Goodwin and two nephews, Thomas & Alex Goodwin.
