Jon “Augie” Karl Whitmer
Jon “Augie” Karl Whitmer passed on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at home in Pocatello. Jon was Born In Midland, Michigan on July 16, 1958, the son of Albert and Rita (Gens) Whitmer.
Jon is survivied by his wife Elizabeth (Sewell) Whitmer and 3 children. Jonathon Whitmer, Natasha Whitmer of Pocatella, and Sean Hubler of Oregon. He is also survived by a step child, Lisa McJimpson of California.
Jon was born the 7th child and is survived by eight siblings.
James Whitmer of Greenville, Michigan, Kathleen Wiederhold of Roswell, New Mexico, Marcia Draves of Sandford, Michigan, Jeananne Whitmer of Pocatello, Idaho, Gregory Whitmer of Sanford, Michigan, Monica Horden of Sanford, Michigan, Therese Varela of Pocatello, Idaho, and Kristen Kane of Monroe, Michigan.
Due to the size of the family there are too many nieces, nephews, Grandchildren, Great nieces and nephews to list.
Jon worked as a truck driver for over 20 years for USF Reddaway located in Pocatello, Idaho. During his years there he was awarded the One Million mile safe driver award.
Jon also served in the US Army Reserve for nearly 10 years and was assigned to “Charley” Co. as a heavy equipment operator in the Pocatello Reserve unit.
“Augie” was well known throughout the community as an avid Harley Davidson rider participating in many rides with is fellow rider throughout the Southern Idaho region. “Augie Doggie” will be deeply missed by his fellow Harley enthusists.
Among the many activities he loved were hunting and fishing with his buddies in the Mountains of the area. He was often joined by his best buddies Albert “Joe” Varela and James “pooie” Rhoades.
On September 9th of this year Jon remarried the “love” of his life, Elizabeth and together they spent his final days in happiness.
