Voorhees, Jolene, passed away peacefully with family at her side, at the age of 58, on December 15, 2011. Jolene was a beloved wife, daughter, sister and a trusted friend. She is survived by her loving husband Gary, of 28 years, puppies Bridgie and Murphy, step children Cori, Candace, Ted and Eric, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brother David McKay (wife Mary) and mother Marlene McKay. Jolene was preceded in death by her father John McKay. She grew up in Storm Lake, Iowa, and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1972 and then attended Iowa State University and graduated with Bachelors in Education in 1976. Jolene taught history at Sheldon High School in Iowa as her first job out of college and then was off to the wild blue sky’s as a flight attended for North Central Airlines (later Northwest Airlines) where she traveled the world. In 1983, she married Gary Voorhees and started her life in the Scottsdale, Arizona. Jolene was the co-founder of Arizona Taste Catering, in Scottsdale. Her smile would light up a room. She was a strong beautiful woman who always brought out the best in everyone around her. Gary and Jolene spent as much time as possible at their home in Delmar, California. Jolene had a heart of gold and was a caring person who loved people, loved to travel and most of all loved her puppies. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
