Johnny E. Croom, 78, a lifelong resident of Animas passed away Thursday November 17, 2011 at his home.
A graveside service will be Tuesday November 22, 2011 at 11 o’clock in the morning at the Middle Animas Cemetery with Wayne Fralie officiating.

Johnny was born August 7, 1933 in Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma to Frank and Gladys Croom. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and throughout the years he had worked for Southern Pacific Railroad, Phelps Dodge Mining Company and has been a lifelong rancher in the Animas Valley.

He is survived by his wife, Rena Croom of the home, daughter, Cathy Taylor of Animas; brother, Joe D. Croom and his wife Laura Faye of Virden; 2 grandchildren, Tommie Ruebush and her husband Clint, and Michelle Taylor; 2 great grandchildren, Johnny Parke and Levi Ruebush. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and by 1 brother, Tommy Croom. Pallbearers will be Clint Ruebush, Danny and Ernie Fralie, Weldon Smith, Alan Donnel, Kevin McCarty, Perry Croom and Wade McClain. Honorary bearers are Clinton and David Dunagan.
