Johnny Wilbert McLean was born on December 17, 1926 to the late Alexander McLean and Lizzie Baggett McLean. To this union five children were born. Lureatha, Lila, and Samuel all preceded him in death. Johnny Wilbert McLean ascended to his final resting place on March 16, 2008 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC with his family and friends close by his bedside. But his spirit still lives on. Johnny attended Cumberland County schools. He began working at a young age, first at Collier and Tart Furniture and Fayetteville Parks and Recreation as a parks Crew Chief, where he retired after 25 years. Johnnie also served in the US Army with an honorable discharge. He was referred to as fair and dedicated. Johnnie became a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church several years ago. He sang on the gospel choir and served on the trustee board for more than 22 years. Years later Johnnie was recommended to the Deacon Board but he declined. He also assisted with the maintenance of the church. With his dedication, honesty, trust worthiness and loyalty he transported the church finances to the bank. He served his discipleship as a devoted brave and bold soldier for Christ. He was a devoted supporter of bible study, Sunday school and worship service. Johnnie was recognized by his humble spirit and a smile on his face. He leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memory, his wife Ollie Mae McLean of 62 years, four children; Beverly Grider of South Field, MI, Johnny McLean, Jr. of Wade, NC, Deborah McLean of Fayetteville, NC, and Earnest McLean of Wade, NC; a brother, Lewis McLean of Raleigh, NC ; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, eight sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special niece Regina Hall.
