Johnnie Smallwood, age 92, was born Tuesday, January 31, 1922, in Brady, Texas, and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in Rockwall, TX. Johnnie married the love of her life Pete Smallwood in 1941. Together they raised and loved their only daughter Susan. Johnnie was always volunteering her time to help others. She spent countless hours volunteering at the Assistance League of Dallas and was very active with PTAs at Letot Elementary, Cary Junior High, and Thomas Jefferson High School when Susan was growing up. Johnnie was a devoted longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church until it disbanded and then Northway Baptist Church which is now The Village Church (Dallas Northway). Johnnie was an avid reader and a member of two book clubs: Book Haven Book Club and Time Review Book Club.
Johnnie is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Smallwood. She is survived by her daughter Susan Wright and son-in-law Jack Wright, grandson Shawn, granddaughter Amanda, great-granddaughter Austyn, sisters Helen and Jan of Las Vegas and many nieces and nephews.
