Johnnie Lee Bouie, Sr. was born on September 27, 1924 in Attapulgus, GA to the late Willie and Hattie Mae Bouie.  He departed this life on July 3, 2014 in his home in Neptune, NJ.

Johnnie was known to be a very quiet and soft spoken person.  He never complained about anything.  He enjoyed helping others, whether it was physical work or financial matters.

He loved basketball and played the sport very well.  He also enjoyed baseball too; however, his greatest love was his garden in which he grew better than store quality vegetables.  Johnnie would always water his garden but would never water his grass.  He said he couldn’t eat grass, but he would fertilize it.

Johnnie attended Mt. Olive Holy Temple Church of God in Christ and was an active contributor to its Rally Day Program.

He was predeceased by three daughters; Hannah Jones, Gail L. Bouie, and Veronica J. Bouie, all of Neptune, NJ; two sisters, Willie Mae Moore and Nettie Mae Womble; and one brother, James E. Bouie.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Myrtice Bouie; six children, Ruth Sweet, Henrietta Bouie, Delores Baker, Johnnie Bouie Jr., Gregory Bouie, and Emmit Bouie of Neptune, NJ; six generations of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
