John Oliver Wolford was called home to his Lord on November 26, 2008. John was born in Pontoosec, IL. on October 19, 1926 to Raymond and Mary Ann (Pitts) Wolford. Following graduation from High School in Washburn, IL he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on June 6, 1944 serving until April 1947. John was married to Dorothy Louise Yazbec on Dec 20, 1947 in La Salle, was employed by Public Service Co. in Lacon and Bradford, IL. from 1948 to 1951 at which time he entered college at Bradley University in Peoria, IL. He received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration in June 1954 and soon thereafter moved his family to Houston, TX where he began his career with Ernst & Ernst Public Accounting Firm. John received his license from the State of Texas as a Certified Public Accountant in July 1955. From this time until moving from Houston to McAllen in 1968 he was in private practice for a time and Controller for the international firm of Ridgeway”s Inc. In McAllen he was a partner with the accounting firm of Paul Veale & Co until his retirement from active practice in 1983, due to blindness. During this period for 13 years through the 70″s and early 80″s he served on the Planning and Zoning Commission in McAllen. John was co-owner of Randall”s Home Furniture in San Juan, TX from 1981 until 1995. John was also an avid bowler and was an active member of St. Patrick”s Episcopal Church in Houston and St. John”s Episcopal Church in McAllen. In September 1972, John was born again and gave his life to his Savior Jesus Christ. He taught Sunday School for many years and was active in Full Gospel Businessmen”s Fellowship International. John was always ready to share the love of Christ with anyone he met. We always marveled at his innate ability to cheer people up and point them to November 2004, John and Dorothy moved to Boerne, to live with their daughter and son-in-law. They became members of St. Helena”s Episcopal Church and the Rainbow Senior is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers James Raymond Wolford and Charles Calvin Wolford. John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Dorothy and a son, Michael James of Harlingen, and daughter, Mary Lou Collins and husband, Tommy of Boerne, 10 grandchildren and 6 great
