John Wesley Thomason “Wes”, age 54, of Sharpsburg, GA passed away at his home on May 15, 2020. Wes will be remembered as the type of man that was a friend to anyone he met. He would give you the shirt off his back (and if you didn’t happen to like that shirt, he would buy you one you did). He lived a life grounded with his faith in Christ, was hard-working, honest, and a man of unshakeable integrity. He was born in Forest Park, GA on August 13, 1965 and graduated Riverdale High School in 1984. Wes was involved in all different types of sports through out his school days, but especially loved playing baseball which was still apparent by his collection of ballcaps that were a part of his daily attire. That love of sports carried through-out his adult life and he became an avid golfer. There wasn’t anything he enjoyed more than playing a round with his golfing buddies. And even though it was all in fun, everyone knew- Wes always played to win. He was owner/operator of Shoal Creek Mechanical in Sharpsburg, GA since 2004. He built his company from the ground up and was never afraid of hard work. There were a lot of ups and downs over the years, but he never gave up on his dream of working for himself and building a successful business. He was able to see the fruits of his years of hard labor and the lessons and values he taught his employee’s will continue to give them the strength to push forward, strive onward, and make him proud. His kind-heartedness was most evident in his love for rescuing animals. One time he was thinking about adopting a dog and was asked “How will you pick which one is yours?” He said, “The oldest one or the next one in line to go at the shelter is the one for me.” That is who he was, the biggest supporter of the underdog and always the one to extend a helping hand to the person that needed it the most. Most of all, Wes loved family. He was the first person they called if anyone had a problem because they knew, Wes would fix it, whatever it took. Having such a tight-knit family is rare and something that Wes never took for granted. His family knows that everything he did, he did for them, to make their lives better. Wes is survived by his mother, Glenda Thomason; his father, Eddie Thomason and his wife, Dolores; sister, Kelley Peppers; niece, Katie Peppers; nephew, Daniel Peppers and numerous extended family members. In simple terms, Wes was one of the greats. The guy everyone felt lucky to have and call a friend. The luckiest of all were blessed to call him family and his friends and family promise to keep his lessons and his legacy alive because they know that is what he would want. He will be loved, remembered, and missed every day.
