was born on February 14, 1943, in Leflore County, in the city of Schlater, Mississippi.
JOHN’S formative education was received in the Indianapolis Public School System. He attended School #56, and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1960. After high school, he enlisted to serve in the United States Air Force, completing a tour of duty which spanned from 1961-1965. He received an Honorable Discharge. JOHN furthered his education at Purdue University (IUPUI), earning an Associate of Science Degree in Computer Technology.
JOHN was united in holy matrimony to the love of his heart, Clara Marie Williams, on May 31, 1969.
JOHN’S professional career began in the late 1960’s at Farm Bureau Insurance Company, working as a computer technician for nine years. He later became employed with the State of Indiana as a Systems Analyst. His employment with the State of Indiana was over a span of 25 years culminating as Deputy Director of the Department of Technology, retiring in 2008.
JOHN’S religious upbringing was in a Christian home.
JOHN was affectionately called “Bubbo”, “Uncle Bubbo” and “J.W.” He was very likeable, patient with people, and calm in all circumstances. He was inquisitive and enjoyed learning anything about everything, which made him very astute in living life. Although JOHN had a serious demeanor, he had an infectious smile and laugh. He could make anyone laugh at his funny sense of humor. He had a special interest in financial matters and loved all kinds of automobiles. JOHN always offered constructive advice with encouragement to everyone. He was a man of faith in his walk with God, and a model of excellence in all he did.
JOHN was preceded in death by his father (1998) and mother (2004). On Friday, September 13, 2019, he peacefully departed this life at the age of 76. He will be greatly cherished and sorely missed.
