John W. Kirshon, formerly of Larchmont and Mamaroneck, New York was born in 1950 in New Rochelle, New York to Paul and Josephine (Newman) Kirshon. He passed away on October 2nd, 2021 at the age of 71.
John graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1968 and was a member of the National French and Latin Honor Societies. He graduated from Trinity College with Distinction in 1972.
John was a journalist, writer, editor and author. He had more than 30 years experience at the New York Times, Associated Press and CBS News. He was the executive editor of Chronicle of the 20th Century, and editor–in-chief of Chronicle of America, both bestselling history books. John’s love of history motivated him to write his celebrated novel, An American Century, published in 2012.
John will be remembered for his keen intellect and wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his sister, Kathy Kirshon Davis and brother-in-law, Jim Davis, Aunt; Marjorie Low, Cousins; Laura and Paul Macionus and Debbie Green, Niece; Lillie Davis, Nephews; Chris Davis and Nick Davis, Great nieces; Tori Davis, Emma Davis, and Clementine Davis, Great nephew; Paul Davis.
