John T. Ries, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 19, 2021. He was born on May 26, 1944 to John F. and Mary H. Ries (Sullivan).
He graduated from Sacred Heart High School and retired from Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors. He enjoyed being outdoors including camping and fishing with his family. One of his passions was Indy Car Racing, having attended over 40 Indianapolis 500 races. He also loved following several sports teams including IU Basketball, Notre Dame Football, the Pacers, the Colts and his beloved Chicago Bears.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sallie Ann Lydick, and his brothers, Joe, David and Kevin Ries. He is survived by his children, Theresa Davis (Kevin), Andrew and David Ries, his grandchildren, Victoria, Emily and Kyle Ries, his sisters, Rosie Young (Phil) and Barbara Stumpf (Bill).
