John T. Quinn, a long-time resident of Stoughton and World War II Veteran of the United States Army passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday October 24, 2016. He was 89 years old and the beloved husband of Vincenza R. “Vina” (DellaPenna) Quinn of Stoughton and the loving stepfather of Anthony F. Egitto and his wife Kathy of Holbrook, Cheryl A. (Cartwright) Kearney and her husband Mike of East Bridgewater and the late Karen M. Egitto and Frank E. Cartwright. He was also the grandfather of Danielle Egitto, Vanessa Kearney, Michael Kearney, David Egitto and Valerie Kearney. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother to the late Lenora Dana Gardiner, Margaret “Peggy” Dugdale, Theresa McNeil and Ellen Berriman.
Born November 4, 1926 in Cranston, Rhode Island, he was the only son born to the late Joseph Henry Quinn and Mary Catherine (O’Connor) Quinn. John attended Cranston Public Schools and was a graduate of Cranston East High School. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, PFC Quinn proudly served his country during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. Upon his return to the states from active duty he became a police officer for The Town of Cranston.
