John R. Schweinsberg, 92, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, Cape Canaveral, FL, and most recently living with his son in Longwood, FL, passed away following an extended illness on March 3, 2013. He was born in New Kensington, PA on Jan 16, 1921, to the late John and Elizabeth Schweinsberg. On June 19, 1943, Jack was married to Mae O. Schweinsberg who preceded him in death on August 6, 2000.

Surviving are his son, John Jr., of Longwood, FL, daughter, Elizabeth Newbold, of Chillicothe, OH, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and his sister, Virginia Fassinger, of Pittsburgh, PA.

Jack was employed by St. Regis Paper in Pittsburgh, PA and later retired from Greenville Steel Tube in Greenville, PA. He relocated to Florida where he volunteered for 23 years for Cape Canaveral Hospital. During Christmas one year, the star on the top of the Tree of Lights at the hospital was named in his honor.

He attended Thiel College in Pennsylvania as well as Robert Morris Business College. He was a World War II veteran having served during the Battle of the Bulge.
