John Fisher Rooney, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born on April 25, 1931, the son of Vernon and Jessie Rooney, in Miami, AZ. John was a caring, generous and loving husband and father. His absence will be deeply felt by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nel, of 54 years; his sons, John Shannon (Laura), Matthew (Katerina), Stephen (Kristin), his grandchildren Marshall, Kendra, Madison and Macyn; brothers, Vernon (Gay Nell) and Frank (Rosemary) and several nieces and nephews.
In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in Arizona with family and friends. Upon graduating from Miami High School, John enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Thomas Jefferson. John graduated from Arizona State University where he was a member of the ASU golf team. John began his 30 year real estate career in 1961.
