John Robert Watkins, 65, passed away quietly January 10. 2017 in Clermont, Florida. He was with his life partner, Lynn Harper-Frazier at the time of his death. John was born July 6, 1951 and graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1969. John was actively involved in boating, loved golf and spending time with his family and friends.
Prior to his retirement in 2005, John worked 34 years for Delco Remy Division of General Motors as an electrician / maintenance manager. He was eventually promoted to Plant Manager with Delco Remy International. In his capacity as Plant Manager, JR traveled extensively to China, Hong Kong, and Mexico.
John is survived by his partner of 26 years, Lynn Harper-Frazier of Leesburg, FL, mother, June Watkins of Anderson, daughter, Amy Watkins; grandchildren, Jordan Watkins, and Sidney Parrish, sister, Karen Myers; nieces April Myers and Gretchen Smith of Anderson, four great-nieces and nephews, all of Anderson; sister Connie (husband David Heinke) Watkins, and nephew, Matthew Watkins, all of Elmhurst, IL; nephew, Gus Baca-Spittal of Indianapolis, and Lynn’s children DeAnn Frazier of Nashville, TN, Donny Frazier of Lafayette, LA, and Daryn Frazier of Pensacola, FL.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Watkins, and his sister, Kathryn (Watkins) Vaughn.
