John C. Reep, age 86, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died Monday January 17, 2011, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. John was born May 11, 1924 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Paul Edward Reep and Jane (Stumme) Reep. He served in World War Two in the South Pacific as a United States Navy Medic assigned to a Marine infantry unit where he received a Purple Heart for his service to his country. John had been employed in the construction trades as a brick and block mason and retired as a building inspector for the Fairfield Alabama Housing Authority. John was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Hill Church in Mount Vernon and a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church before moving to Ohio in 2000. Surviving are his children Peggy Jo Reep, Paul (Kathy) Reep and Karen Specht all of Orlando Florida and Ralph (Suzanne) Reep of Deltona, Florida; step children Robert (Sandy) Hall of Bremen, Alabama and Wanda (Curtis) Biggs of Oneonta, Jack (Rattana) Hissong of Thailand, Terry (Pam) Hissong of Mount Vernon, Ohio Britt (Desiree) Hissong of Jacksonville, Florida, several grandchildren, Robbie (Julie) Hall of Trussville, Kimberly Gregory of Bremen and great grandchildren, Taylor, Molly, Loftin, and Tyler; his brother Gerald (Betty) Reep of West Palm Beach, Florida. Besides his parents John was preceded in death by wives Mary Agnes (Silveria) Reep, Virginia Hall Reep and Marjorie Hissong Reep, a brother Paul Edward Reep Jr., a sister Hazel Cermak, stepson Earl Hall and granddaughter Melissa Haynes.
