John Raymond “Ray” Reid, 70, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021, peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side.
Ray was born April 14, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Clifford and Rose (Manning) Reid. He graduated from Dowling High School and attended St. Benedict’s College in Atchison, KS. Ray married Bonet Chiri and they made their home in Des Moines for the next 40 years.
Ray worked at Bridgestone-Firestone for 30 years. He enjoyed detailing cars and spending time with many friends in his garage.
Ray is survived by his wife, Bonet, daughter, Janet (Jeremy) Crosser of Ankeny, three grandchildren, Asa, Ashton, and Amaya Crosser, three brothers, Robert Reid of Nashville, TN, Patrick (Mari) Reid of Des Moines, IA, and Ronald (Jo) Reid of Nashville, TN; and his sister, Cathy Jennewein of Overland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Glenn Jennewein and nephew, Nick Reid.
