John Roy George, 76 of Tuscola and formerly of Odin passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at his home. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 26, 1935, and was the son of Wallace and Elizabeth George. He married Alberta M. Mifflin on May 24, 1957 at Faith United Methodist Church in Centralia, and she survives him in Tuscola. In addition to his wife of 55 years he is survived by a daughter Connie Ebert and husband Jon of Gilroy, California; two grandchildren Will Ebert and Sidney Ebert of Gilroy; two brothers Ricky Ray and wife Judy of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Robert Panyik and wife Betty of Fairfax Station, Virginia; and one sister Ruth Steinberg and husband Bernie of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Jim Gannon; and one sister Opal Angle. John graduated from Odin High School in 1953. He joined the United States Army in June of 1958 and served in the Cold War and was honorably discharged in June of 1960. John had worked at Lear-Zeigler, Illinois Central Rail Road, and retired from USI Chemicals. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 35 years and a member of the Odin Christian Church. Most of all John will be remembered as a loving family member and never refusing to help a neighbor, relative, friend or stranger. All who knew him will remember him as a perfect gentleman.
