John is survived by his wife, Rachelle Williams of Elkhart; father John E. Calvert of Elkhart; sisters Mary M. Calvert of Elkhart and Catherine A. (Clyde) Prestly of Cassopolis, Mich.; 12 nieces and nephews; and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite W. “Margo” Calvert, who passed in 2013, and brother James E. “Jim” Calvert, who passed in 2012.

John attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School and was a 1972 graduate of Elkhart Central High School. He also received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.

He worked in sales for most of his career for Fastec Industrial Corp., and then American Bolt and Screw in Elkhart. John was very active in the Elkhart community. He helped with fund raising for the Lerner Theatre and enjoyed ushering and volunteering there.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist. Toward the end of his life he had an urgency for his friends and family to have a relationship with Christ. He did mentoring to students at Pinewood and Hawthorne elementary schools.

He also played guitar in the band “Bad Apple.” John enjoyed fishing and collecting owls. John loved being outside and working on his immaculately kept yard and landscaping.

Those whom John has touched remain grateful for his life, his love and the beauty of his being.
