AUGUST – John R. August, Sr., 74, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. He was born July 16, 1947 in North Canaan; the son of the late William and Eunice (Wolford) August. He retired from Sterling Engineering where he worked as a talented Machinist. He loved riding his Harley, working on cars and spending time with his family. He also loved his dogs. He is survived by his wife Darling Caine of Torrington; their children, John R. August, Jr., of Watertown, David Caine and wife Laurie of ME, Diane Deming and husband Bruce of Torrington, Brenda Deming and husband Clayton of Torrington, Sheila Morrell and husband Calvin of SC and Linda Galinski and husband Jonathan of Torrington; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two brothers, Roland August of Winsted and Dennis August and wife Edith of SC; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Edward Caine and a nephew, Shane August.
