Age 68 of Maple Grove Township passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at his home.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, February 19, 2018 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in St. Charles. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 18 from 2:00 to 8:00pm at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel, Chesaning with a Rosary prayed at 7:00pm, and also at the church on Monday from 12:00pm until the service.John was born on July 29, 1949 to Edward K. “Lysle” and Rosemary (Mahoney) Emmendorfer in Saginaw. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.John worked for General Motors for 38 years before retiring. During his life, he went above and beyond to help anyone who needed it. He was known for his kindness and generosity. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus and of St. Peter Catholic Church.John is survived by his siblings, JoAnn Emmendorfer (Mario Brennan), Kenneth Emmendorfer, Alan (Neoma) Emmendorfer, Dale (Marion) Emmendorfer, Norman Emmendorfer, Janice Emmendorfer-Mahan (Bo Mahan), Daniel Emmendorfer (Chris Zenti), Mary Emmendorfer, Phillip Emmendorfer, and Roger (Sarina) Emmendorfer; his 19 nieces and nephews; and his honorary “sons”and their families, Dan (Holly) Nixon, kids Bailey and Peyton, and Brandon (Jessi) Nixon, kids Joshua, Trevor, Zachery, and Maranda; as well as many friends.He is predeceased by his parents, Rosemary and Edward “Lysle” Emmendorfer; his brothers, Michael and Carl Emmendorfer; and his nephew, Joseph Emmendorfer.Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
