Mr. John Peyton Strength, Jr. 93, of Douglasville, GA passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018. He was born May 13, 1924 in Marshall, TX to the late John P. Strength & Mary Elizabeth Wyatt Strength. After graduating from high school, John attended college for a year before he felt the call to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a Marine pilot in WWII in the Pacific theater where he flew Corsairs in China and surrounding regions. John was the first Marine Corps officer on the shore Incheon at the onset of the Korean War. After he left the service, he sold advertising for radio and television in the Texas markets and later bought and sold radio stations in Georgia, Oklahoma, and Wyoming.
Survivors include wife, Linda Ann Johnson Strength; children, Elizabeth Jane Ward, John Peyton Strength III, David Yancey Strength, Paul Wayne Strength; siblings, Nora Virginia Coffey, Leonard “Bud” Carroll Strength; grandchildren, Eric Ward, Jason Ward, Justin Ward, John Peyton Strength IV, Chandler Allen Strength, Hali Sherrie Strength, Sterling Yancey Strength, Paul “P.J.” Wayne Strength, Jr., Shanda Sams, Keaton Frank Strength; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
