John Parker Lyon, 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at his longtime home of Apple Village Assisted Living in Layton, UT. John was born September 29, 1922 in Pomeroy,
Washington, to Holmes K. and Althea L. Parker Lyon. His father was a rancher in a time when things like electricity and telephones in a farmhouse were not a given, and John recounted memories of riding a horse to school with his brother Everett. The family moved first to Northern
Idaho soon after John was born and then back to Washington near Spokane when the Depression hit.
John graduated from high school in 1940.
