John Nedzelski, age 81, of Salem died Thursday Evening, November 13, 2014 at his home. He was born November 6, 1933 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Kosarich) Nedzelski Sr. John worked as a pipe fitter/safety trainer for General Motors in Lordstown from 1971 until he retired in July 1998. Previously he worked from 1954 to 1971 for Jones & Laughlin Steel in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. John was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church and was a graduate of Coraopolis High School. He was a lifetime member of the Salem AmVets Post 45, lifetime member of the Salem V.F.W. Post 892, member of the American Slovak Club and the American Legion. John was also a member of the Salem Honor Guard, Salem Auxiliary Police, Perry Township Fire Department and a motorcycle enthusiast. During the Korean War he served in the U. S. Navy on the USS Chilton APH 38 as a Gunnersmate with 5″ guns. John retired from the Naval Reserve as a Chief Petty Officer. Survivors include his wife, Anne (Huppenthal) Nedzelski, whom he married July 6, 1956; 3 sons, Jeffrey (Tracy) Nedzelski of Hughesville, Maryland; Timothy (Peggy) Nedzelski of Salem and Theodore (Wendy) Nedzelski of Berlin Center; a daughter, Trina (Michael) Croll of Tucson, Arizona; a brother, Nicholas Nedzelski of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania and grandchildren, Jimmy, Sabrina, Keith and Angela, Brittany, Teddy, Chad, Amanda and Sam, Rachel, Charlotte and Bailey, Madelynne and Easton, and Elliana and Marie. John was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Marie Orsini; a brother, Stanley Nedzelski Jr. and a granddaughter Nicole Elizabeth.
