On January 2, 2019, John M. Park, Jr., a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, quietly passed away in his home at Brighton Gardens of Columbia. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ann T. Park, three daughters, Kathy Stansbery, Sharon Park, and Melissa Stanford, two sons-in-law, Harlan Stansbery and Greg Stanford, and four grandchildren, Megan Stansbery, Katie Stansbery, Jeff Stanford and Becca Stanford.
John Park grew up on a farm in Kentucky, excelling in high school academics and athletics and receiving high honors as president of the Kentucky Association of 4-H Clubs. He earned a B.S. and M.S, served in the Air Force, and worked his way to Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab (JHU/APL), where, as a principal staff mathematician, he earned the responsibility of managing APL’s Trustees Report in the position of Assistant to the Associate Director of JHU/APL.
He enjoyed his retirement and when he was not working in the garden, reading and cooking, his wife Ann was always by his side.
