John M.

John was born on November 4, 1933 in Appleton, WI to Howard and Martha (Miske) Kettleson. He graduated high school in Appleton. He proudly served in the United States Army in Germany from 1953-1955. He married Marilyn Sobczak on July 2, 1988 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.  In his younger years he was a star athlete, he played football, baseball and was a speed skater. 

John worked in the paper industry for over 38 years. He began his career in the Appleton Division followed by transfers to the Wisconsin River and Biron Divisions. He held many positions including yard, wood room, chemical and boiler houses, stock preparation department, lap pulper, eventually advancing to second helper in 1995.

John was an avid fisherman who enjoyed catching walleye and perch. He was known to have the best fish fry around. The family camped for 17 years on Lake Gogebic and Lac Vieux Desert.  He was always the life of the annual party held at their home.

John is survived by his loving wife Marilyn and children: Robin Kettleson, Gary Kettleson, and Janice Kettleson; and step daughter, Michelle Linden.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Margie Laux, Betty Koss, Robert Kettleson and Bill Kettleson.

The family would like to thank the staff from Heartland Hospice and the Wisconsin Rapids Health Center for their amazing compassion and care that they gave.
