John LeRoy Ortman Sr., age 82, of Columbus, passed away at his home on June 8, 2017, surrounded by his loving family . He was born April 2, 1935 to the late Howard and Kathryn (Jarvis) Ortman in Columbus. John is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Ball) Ortman; children, Sarah Ortman, John Ortman Jr., Howard Ortman Sr., Mark Eyer, Jay Eyer; grandchildren, Jimmie Whiting, Eric Ortman, Amanda Ortman, Howard Ortman Jr.; several great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews; sisters, Mara, Catherine, Jona, and Mary; sister-in-law, Sandra (John); nephew, Thomas (Teresa); and great-nephew, Ian. He is preceded in death by his son, Carl Eyer; daughter, Rosa Whiting; sisters, Nancy, Patricia, and Ruth; father and mother-in-law, John and Ursula (Rosenthal) Ball.
