John L. Nettrouer, 86, of County Road 4, in Middlebury, Indiana, formerly of N. Brookfield Street in South Bend, Indiana, passed away in the home of his son, Rick and daughter-in-law, Tonia Jones, Tuesday, February 7, 2006. John was born on August 6, 1919, in Lakeville, Indiana to Andrew B. and Clara R. (Beyler) Nettrouer. He retired from the former Portage Oil Company where he delivered oil and was also a farmer on the family farm.
On September 20, 1952, John married Helen J. Tobolski who preceded him in death on December 16, 1994. On November 29, 1997, he then married Frances May Jones who preceded him in death on August 14, 2003.
Surviving are children, Gary (Pat) Jones of South Bend, Chris (Gloria) Jones of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Rev. Mark (Melissa) Jones of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rick (Tonia) Jones of Middlebury, Indiana, April (Bill) Rose of Plymouth, Indiana; 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
John was the youngest of 14 children and was preceded in death by all his siblings.
John was a WWII army veteran where he received two bronze star medals. He loved going out to eat, took special care of his yard, loved playing with his grandchildren, and was a big kidder with a heart of gold.
