MUNCIE – John L. Cooper, 85, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at his residence.

He was born August 19, 1927 in Muncie to Carroll Cooper and Ruth (Diefenbaugh) Hirsch. John graduated from Muncie Central High School. He worked at Chevrolet of Muncie as a machine repairman for 45 years. John also did commercial art for the theatres here in Muncie. John proudly served his country during WWII. He was the last

man drafted into the Army from Delaware County.

      He is survived by his loving wife Betty of 66 years, four daughters Darlene Stephens

(husband-Lige); Muncie, Deborah Cooper; Indianapolis, Denise Wheeler (husband-William); Hampshire, Tennessee, Dee Ann Turner (husband-Joseph); Tampa, Florida,

grandchildren Staci Johnson (husband-Maurice); Indianapolis, Christopher Wheeler (wife-Kelley); Spring Hill, Tennessee, Anthony Turner; Tampa, Florida, great-grandchildren Ashley Gipson; Jackson, Tennessee, Savannah Turner, Orlando, Florida,

Stephen Wheeler; Spring Hill, Tennessee, Andrew Wheeler; Spring Hill, Tennessee,

one great-great grandchild Mia Gipson; Jackson, Tennessee.

      John was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two grandchildren Casey & Amanda.
