John L. Carpenter, 81, of Brookfield, husband of Jean (Thorne) Carpenter, died on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Bethel Health Care Center, Bethel, CT.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Stamford, CT, June 11, 1940, a son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Wilson) Carpenter. He attended Stamford schools and graduated from Stamford High School.
A U.S. Vietnam-era veteran, Mr. Carpenter served with the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1958-to 1962.
A resident of Brookfield since 1966, Mr. Carpenter was a retired set-up man with Amphenol of Danbury.
Mr. Carpenter liked to work around the house and fix cars. He liked classic cars and attended Cruise Nights at the Sycamore Restaurant in Bethel. John and Jean were married for the past fifty- seven years and would still look forward to going out for ice cream together.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Carpenter is survived by a son, John S. Carpenter, a daughter Carol Perot, a sister Grace Walter, three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carpenter was predeceased by two sons, Gary and David Carpenter.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff at Bethel Health Care, who cared for Mr. Carpenter in the last few years.
