John Laughton Armes,Sr. age 83, of Jonesboro, IN, died May 5, 2014, at Marion General Hospital in Marion, IN. John retired from Fisher Body, Marion after 30 years, and he served In the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was born December 13, 1930 at Marion, INto the late Elrie George Armes and the late Dessie Cantrell Armes. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #645 Gas City, Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne, Mizpah Shrine Ft. Wayne, Grant County Shrine Club and Scooter Patrol.A member of the CPC Sympathy Club, the Fisher Body Camping Club, and VFW Post 6728, Gas City.He enjoyed collecting antique clocks and had over 100 clocks running in his house at the same time. His first wife Avannell (Kinder) Armes preceded him in death in 1976.He later marriedMarilyn (Kendall) Cline Armes who preceded him in death April 18, 2014.
He is survived byOne Son: John L. Armes,, Jr., Jonesboro, IN One daughter: Johanna, Anaheim, Calif. Grandson: Dave (Krystral) Drake and his children, Austin and Noah. Grandson: Bryson Finch, Matthews, IN Sister: Salina Yoder, Marion, IN and Brother: Charles E. (Vangie) Armes, Gas City, IN Two step-sons:Kim (Tammie) Cline, Edgewater, FL. and Jim (Debbie) Cline, Hallsville, TX.
He was preceded in death by his father Elrie George Armes and his mother Dessie Armes King.Sister: Mary K. “Babe” Mullins,Brothers: George E. “Gene” Armes, Sr. Williams R. “Bill” Armes, James H. “Jay” Armes and his dog Mikey Doodle.
