John Kent Houston, formerly of Westcliffe, passed away on May 20, 2021 in Colorado Springs. Kent was born July 30, 1942 in Saskatchewan,   Canada. His family immigrated to the United States in 1958 and lived in Minneapolis. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA degree in 1966 and became a US citizen in 1994. Beginning with Xerox Learning Systems in Chicago and transferring to San Francisco in 1974, Kent had a 45-year career choosing and then implementing appropriate training programs for corporate clients. In 1990 Kent joined the start-up Advantage Performance Group and remained with the company until his retirement in 2018. In 2015 he was the first recipient of their Founder’s Award.

On a business trip to Denver in 1975, Kent literally bumped into Jeanne Tucker; they married December 24, 1976.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Houston. In addition to his wife, Jeanne, he is survived by a daughter, Tracey (Mike) Huber; grandchildren, Andy (Sarah), Jake (Anna) and Ellie, all of Wilmington, NC, as well as by sisters, Janis (Bruce) Houston, Joanie (Roger) Knight; niece, Chelsea and nephew, Billy (Kelly); and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Kent loved the Sangres and his years there, where he could be found most evenings on his back deck enjoying the spectacular views, the peace and the quiet.
