Obituary of John Keenan Coffey

COFFEY, John Keenan

Saginaw Township, Michigan

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend regrettably passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at McLaren – Flint. He was 59 years old.  John Keenan Coffey was born on July 23, 1961 in Saginaw to the late Gerald E. “Jerry” and Teresa J. (Dilloway) Coffey. John attended Arthur Hill High School, but took to the open road working construction and developing his “Jack of all trades.” John loved his Irish heritage, and winning any dispute by sheer volume alone. Many memories were shared with his siblings and best friends: Kevin (Julie) Coffey, Julie (Glenn) Olsen, Patrick (Kim) Coffey, William (Maureen) Coffey and Rebecca Coffey.

John met his former wife, Sherry Dabbert, in Oklahoma while he was working. John’s number one priority was his three sons, Gerald E. Coffey, Shawn K. Coffey and John L. Coffey all of Saginaw. His hardworking principles were instilled into his sons and they will continue to honor their dad’s memory.

John met his wife, Robin (Martindale) Schneider, while she was working at Kroger. John was articulate at salesmanship, as he could sell any old item and make it sound like it came from royalty. It was with this persuasion that he swept Robin off her feet and they were married on February 14, 2005. Robin brought to John’s life her three children: Anthony Schneider, Benjamin Schneider and Danielle (Christopher) Wasney.

John and Robin’s life was also filled by their grandchildren: Hunter Coffey, Brayden and Anthony James (A.J.) Schneider, Scarlett and Steven Schneider and Asher and Delilah Wasney.

John loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a Harley man but was exceptionally proud of his Triumph Chopper. He also loved classic cars and watching John Wayne and Little House on the Prairie. John could often be found with a bowl of ice cream or cookie in his hand, and spending time with his Chihuahua, Piper.
