Troy – John Joseph Mero, 81, died Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Troy Center for Rehab & Nursing Troy after a long illness.
Born in Cohoes, he was son of the late William Mero, Sr. and Nina Lutey Mero and significant other of Linda R. Jones, Brunswick of 45 years. He was raised in Cohoes and resided in Troy since the mid 60’s and attended Cohoes High School.
John was a countertop maker at RC Plastics in Cohoes and Waterford for 40+ years and worked part-time at the Cohoes Bowling Alley.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping at Aqua Vista Campground for many years, fishing, playing cards and was a member of Project Linus and the Army National Guard.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina Brierley, Ballston Spa and Dawn (Jeff) Harrington, Averill Park; three grandchildren, Meghan (McKinley) Brumback and Amanda (Dennis) Turner and Charles James ‘CJ’ Brierley; a brother, David (Veronica) Mero; two sisters, Annie Mero and Sally Esposito and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert (Margaret ‘Peg’) Mero, William (Margaret ‘Peg’) Mero Jr., Charles (Marian) Mero, Nancy Whitney and James, Daniel and Alice Mero.
