John Joseph French Jr., age 74, of Salem died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Salem Regional Medical Center. He was born November 11, 1940 in Canton the son of the late John J. and Irene G. (Riley) French Sr. John worked for 25 years for Col Pump in Columbiana in maintenance. He lived in the area all his life and attended the Salem Southeast Friends Church. Survivors include his wife, Linda R. (Price) French, whom he married August 17, 1990; 3 sons, Michael (Renee) Cross of Salem, Ezera (Eleanor) French of Blue Ridge, Georgia and David (Theresa) Cross of Lisbon; 4 daughters, Rose (Dan) Reno of Salem, Nancy (Joe) Armstrong of Kensington, Hallie (Dave) Esenwein of San Angelo, Texas and AmyJo Stivers of Boardman; 3 sisters, Mickey (Scott) Gibbs of Wellsville, Mary Jo Byers of Salem and Hazel French of Lisbon; a brother, George French of Sacramento, California; 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, a sister, Roslyn Carnes; 2 brothers E. Jim and Samuel French and a son, Michael John French, preceded him in death.
