John Jakob Nosko, 83, passed away Friday evening, January 13, 2006, at his home in South Bend after a lengthy illness. John was born in Gary, Indiana, on May 15, 1922. The third of four children, he was the son of Vincent and Katherine (Drobniak) Nosko. His parents, two brothers, Vincent and Louis Nosko; and his sister, Elsie McDaniel preceded him in death. On June 21, 1947, he married Betty Lou Montgomery in South Bend. They were married 58 years and have three children. John was a Mechanical Engineer who retired from Bendix Energy Controls Division after 37 years. He graduated from Purdue University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1966 he received a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945 as a Machinists Mate First Class, stationed in the Pacific, and was a member of the V-12s stationed at Notre Dame. He was a member of the Purdue Alumni Association, Bendix Salaried Employees Club, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and American Turners. He volunteered at the Print Shop of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Surviving are his wife, Betty, his daughters, Pamela (Michael) Abbate, of Crystal Lake, IL, Deborah (Jeffrey) Kolb of Vincennes, IN, and a son Gary (Linda) Nosko of Wildwood, MO. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Anthony John (Barbara) Abbate, Jennifer Mary Abbate, Justin Barnes Kolb, Joanna Montgomery Kolb, John Adam Kolb, David Aaron Nosko, and Matthew John Nosko, and two great grandchildren, Liam Patrick Abbate and Angelo Antonio Abbate.
