REITHJohn “Jack” 93, on April 17, 2021 of West Chester, in Pittsburgh, PA, December 31, 1927. Jack graduated from Duquesne University and was a Veteran of World War II. Army of occupation and was assigned to General MacArthurs’ headquarters in Tokyo, where he served as a teenager staff sergeant at the war crimes trial of Tojo and other major Japanese criminals. He worked with court reporters and was responsible for the printing and worldwide distribution of the daily trial transcripts.After graduating from Duquesne he was employed by Safeco Insurance Company where he advanced to the position of area claims manager overseeing office throughout Pennsylvania and Southern New 1972 he began a new career in the commercial construction industry. He was employed by the General Building Contractors Association where he advanced to the position of Director of Labor Relations, covering the Philadelphia five county area. It was there that he negotiated labor agreements and handled disputes with the commercial union carpenters, laborers, cement masons, iron workers and operating engineers unions. During that period he also served many years as executive director of Lehigh Valley Contractors Association in Bethlehem, PA and Executive Director of the Building Industries in Reading, PA. He fully retired at age 85. His pastime activities included bowling and daily visits to the local YMCA.Survived by his wife of 64 years June F Reith (Fabra); his 7 children; David Reith (Jeanne), Gregory Reith (Angela), Douglas Reith, Elaine Simber (Christopher), Daniel Reith, Janice Fitzpatrick (Frank), Sally Hoffman (Adam), his 17 Grandkids, 11 Great Grandkids, and sisters Jeanne Grogan and Lois Cole.
