John “Jack” Gilbert Towne, 87, of Anderson, passed away on July 21, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Anderson Regional Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on March 11, 1930 in Anderson, Indiana and resided most of his life in Anderson.

Jack graduated from Anderson High School Class of 1948 and attended Ball State University. He served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Salisbury Sound.

He retired in 1988 from Delco Remy after 38 years as a tool and die maker.

He was a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge, Indianapolis Scottish Rite, Madison County Shrine Club, and the American Legion. He was an avid golfer and NASCAR fan. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Some of his most special moments were spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and his wife also loved wintering in Florida for 25 years.

Jack is survived by his son, Larry G. (Lynn) Towne; grandchildren, Trent (Katrina) Towne and Stacy (Brian) Staresnick; great-grandchildren, Molly Towne and Peyton Towne.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Irene Towne; mother, Marguarite Towne and father, Paul G. Towne.
